Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother
by Amy Chua

This a story of a woman who decided to raise her children in the "Chinese Way" as opposed to the "Western Way". The "Chinese Way" is very strict, they must play an instrument, an instrument she approves of, of course, and practice many hours per day. On her birthday when they handmade her a card she wouldn't accept them, they weren't "good" enough. Her first daughter was a successful result of the "Chinese Way", in the authors eyes, diligent, obedient, driven.
Her second daughter; however, fought her every step of the way. I really sped through this book, I loved how realistic it was, how interesting another method of parenting was to experience. A really engrossing read, I enjoyed it very much.
