Such a wonderful story, little Oskar Schell is such a heart wrenching and precocious character. He's 9 years old and he lost his father in the 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center. The story has three narrators, Oskar, his grandmother and grandfather, and so many unique characters in one book, the ten discs just breezed by. One day, while in his mothers closet, a blue vase falls and breaks, revealing an envelope and key, and Oskar is sure it's something his Dad left for him. I couldn't believe how much freedom this little guy has to investigate the many people named "Black" in so many burroughs of New York. But investigate he does, walking, taking taxi cabs and speaking to so many strangers my mother gene was incredulous. Miraculously nothing happens except he wins the heart of mostly everyone he talks to, some even show up for his school play. I really loved this book and can't wait to see Tom Hanks as Thomas Schell in the movie adaption.
